In 250 years, my dog will be automated

by Lynn on July 26, 2010

When I was in Williamsburg, it occurred to me that a lot can change in 250 years.
As I walked by the homes that people lived in so many years ago,
I began to wonder…

In 250 years, will we still have pretty gardens in our yards?
Or will growing flowers and vegetables be a quaint hobby of yesteryear?

In 250 years, will tables and chairs be obsolete?
Will we communicate solely via computer screens and handheld devices?

Will sidewalks be a thing of the past?
Will we get from one place to another in our small private jetmobiles?

Will our homes be sleek, metallic, and covered in state of the art solar panels?

Will we do all our shopping via the internet?
Will no one ever stroll into a store just to look around?
Will we never pick up an item and feel it in our hands before we buy it?

Will we no longer take walks around the neighborhood just to stretch our legs?
Or will we catch strap ourselves into machines that’ll exercise for us?

Then it occurred to me that in 250 years…

…we will have virtual dogs.

That’s just not right.

The internet shopping will be just fine with me until someone develops a pill or a microchip that will enable me to resist temptation. The automated dog? Never.

I think we’re good Lynn…those “realistic” stuffed animals don’t do it for me now, I doubt they can improve them that much!

Those are great thoughts. It’s strange to think of how the world will change in 250 years.

250 years is a very long time and I think by that year, every thing is already automated…
