Little Green Men Like Me

I’m convinced that Martians are trying to impress me.
Let me elucidate…By the way, only sane people use the word “elucidate.”

Here is a normal bridge that most people use:

Here is the bridge I encountered.
It looked like a toothpick was holding up the road:

The sight was frightening.
I voiced my concern like any adult would do.
In other words, I screamed “I want my Mommy!”

“Who in their right mind uses strings and toothpicks to hold up a bridge?” I squealed.  ”Martians?!”
“This is a new suspension bridge,” my husband assured me. “There’s nothing to fear.”

I began to grow suspicious.
You see, I think my husband might be a Martian.
Of course he has confidence in the structures built by his “people.”

I had to admit that the bridge was impressive.
I even told my husband, “You were right, dear. This bridge is wonderful.”
He beamed at the complement and said:  ”It only took 5 nebbles to build it.”

“Did you say NEBBLES?”  I gasped.  ”That’s a Martian word!”
“No!” My husband looked guilty.  ”I didn’t say nebble.”
“I think you did!  What’s a nebble?”

Just then, his cell phone rang.
He took the call. I think it was from the Martians.
They told him exactly how to recover from his faux pas.
“Wanna go get ice cream?” He asked as soon as he hung up.
“Yes!” I exclaimed, wondering if I should get chocolate or mint chocolate chip.
