Remember when there was an infant in your house?
They’re really cute, but sometimes, you had to get away…
if only to stuff food into your mouth and pee.

While you were gone, someone watched the baby.
In this case, it was me. I watched the eggs every time mama bird flew away.

So sweet!
Robin’s eggs.
Or so I thought.

Granted, I’m no bird expert.
But it looked like a robin’s nest.
And the bird kind of looked like a robin.
As you can tell, I’m not exactly a trained scientist.
I’m a romance writer. I fly by the seat of my pants. (Pun intended.)

Imagine my delight when the babies were born!
Above, you’ll notice the terrific picture I took when mama was gone.
Below, you’ll see the picture I took when mama bird suddenly reappeared:

As it turns out, she wasn’t a robin. She was a very angry cat-bird.
Cat-birds squawk like felines and attack anyone near their nest.
I know, from personal experience. She tried to peck my hair!
.
After I ran away from the nest, she flew to the ground and pretended
to limp across the yard, trying to lead me away from her babies.
.
It’s exactly what I would have done if I found
a huge bird peering down into my baby’s crib.

The Babies are so cute! Popped in from SITS!
Criminal! Shame on the cat-bird (whatever that is– I’m no expert either apparently), laying brilliant blue eggs. Don’t be embarrassed. Could have happened to anyone. And now I’m going to go attack the penguin mobile hanging over my childrens’ cots…
You know, that they make special lenses for the camera so you can take pictures from far away and not risk certain death.
Loved the color of the eggs, so blue:) The babies are sooo cute…but then all babies are, aren’t they? Good job capturing these photos for us:):) Thank you.
How endearing. Love the shots of the eggs and the gaping beaks!
Almost as good as squirrels if you ask me! Well done.

Hehe, the image of you and Momma Bird duking it out kinda made me bust out laughing! This is the curse of the curious human with a camera;) I’m glad your okay and Momma bird is doing good!

We have swallows this time of year, and they keep trying to nest near our front door. They’ve taken over! They swoop down at all who enter or leave from the front door. Someone told me to put rubber snakes at our front door to scare them away, but somehow I’m just not into that idea:)

Oh Snap! Lol! Well, at least you got some good shots before the attack!
WHOA!! those are awesome shots! brings a whole new meaning to the “Angry Birds” term going around on facebook which I have no idea about (a game?). I donno much about birds either but we can learn MUCH from observing them…here (cos I’m thick-faced like that):

Those are wonderful pictures! How should you have known that they weren’t robin’s eggs? After all, they were ‘robin’s-egg blue’! Glad the mamma didn’t peck your eyes out!

We have catbirds here too. At first we didn’t know their names and my husband and I kept referring to them as the “Squeaking rocking chair” birds because that is what they sounded like. I would be afraid of them swooping down on me too! But how cool that you got their baby photos!
