Dear Mother Nature…

by Lynn on February 17, 2012

Dear Mother Nature,
Why have you forsaken us?

We count on you to blanket us with calm.
Yet you’ve let us down this year.
Hardly an inch of snow fell.

We need a snow day.
We need to be trapped inside our houses,
so that we’ll have the time to cook something better than this:

Actual dinner at For Love or Funny...

The snow will relieve us from the drudgery of laundry.
We’d much rather go sledding.

I blame myself.
I had the gall to buy sleds at Xmas.
I assumed a lot, didn’t I?

I promise to ask you next time before I buy sleds.
Please give us more snow before month’s end.

Thank you.

.

How much snow did you have this winter?

We had snow just before Halloween – about 10″ – and then again on New Year’s day but I was out of town and missed it. We have had 2 smattering since then. How I long for all those days of missing work we had last year and the year before!

Snow, snow…..that’s that white stuff right? I vaguely remember it from my childhood in Maine. Here in Florida it’s been one of the warmest Winters ever. It basically stayed in the mid to high 70′s all January and with the exception of a couple of mid 30 low’s this month it’s been high in the 80′s. But I’m not complaining. I basically get to live in my shorts, tank top and flip flops, which in my world is my favorite outfit. I say use the sleds as planters and call it a day. LOL!

HUGS!

Here in Tennessee we normally have at least one good, city-paralyzing (although it doesn’t take much) snowfall. In the past few years we’ve had the ice storms, the worst flooding in decades, tornadoes, dogs and cats living together, and mass hysteria. And the only snow we’ve gotten recently has been a light dusting that didn’t even completely cover the ground.

In spite of all that I really wish for a really big snowstorm. It might seem like yet another natural disaster hitting us, but for me it would be a nice change of pace.

Here in southern Vermont we don’t have any. Every snow flurry we’ve had has melted within 24 hours. I can see green grass on my front lawn. In Vermont. In February.

Lynn, my husband bought a new, bigger snow blower this year. He’s disappointed it hasn’t snowed too. I’ll tell you, like I’ve told him, if you want snow head on up to Canada. I think this winter has been quite nice. I’m not complaining.

I’m from east cost Canada, and we’ve only had a few small snowfalls. The ground has been bare most of the winter. It’s strange! Jacki, your husband might want to head even further north :)
