The joy of frying

by Lynn on January 18, 2013

I am extremely boring in the kitchen. I never fry anything.
Why? Because hot oil is…HOT.
And I’m a scaredy cat.

Just yesterday, my teen said “I have to make Churros for spanish class.”
I couldn’t tell her I was scared of oil, so I straightened my shoulders and nodded.
If she knows I’m scared of oil, she’ll threaten to fry me the next time she wants to borrow the car.

I was stunned when she proceeded to make the dough by herself. This kid can COOK!
Like any responsible adult afraid of oil, I made her do the frying.

When I saw the finished product,
I volunteered to do the tasting.

Churros

That’s the beauty of having kids, isn’t it?
They push you out of your comfort zone
…and make you Churros.

I’m not big on frying either, not deep frying that is. I like to stick with shallow frying. Just think pool. Shallow end safe, deep end not. LOL!
She looked like she did a great job though.

So if you’re afraid of frying how did your daughter learn to cook so well? If she learned from your husband I’d say you’re doubly lucky. And you never have to cook for yourself.

Oh, those look good! And I’ll tell you something else, they are way more attractive than the “real ones” I found online …
